With a voice described as both ferocious and sweet and a percussive guitar style, Lisa Richards writes songs of longing, loss, love and hope, borrowing from the traditions of folk, blues and jazz while carving out her own musical corner of the world.
She has a life story that could easily grace the silver screen, from Acapella busking in Kings Cross, Sydney, to hanging out with Debbie Harry at SXSW, playing CBGB’s in NYC as well as living in both New York City and Austin Texas for many years, before returning home to Australia.
Her songs have appeared on compilations, sharing the track list with Adele, Nina Simone and Corinne Bailey Rae. She’s performed at The Telluride Bluegrass Festival, Rocky Mountain Folks Festival, Merlefest, SXSW and. CMJ.
Her current release, “A Light from the Other Side,” is her 6th album and first Australian-made release, teaming up with producer Greg J Walker (Paul Kelly, Jess Ribiero, and C.W. Stoneking).
Last Australian shows before she heads to New York City to Record a new collection of songs for release in 2020
*”Richards is a simple yet powerful songwriter who has beautifully
encapsulated the intricacies of the human condition.” **Emily Ritchie The Australian *
Kicking the show off will be Darling Downs songwriter Pepper Jane celebrating
the release of her EP ‘Raw and Lightly Salted in Tasmania – Live at The Green Room’
